Vintage Motorcycle Days 2003
July 18-20, 2003
Mid-Ohio Track, Lexington, Ohio
| The campground stretched to the horizon in all directions. It was a dense sea of tents, campers, trailers, trucks and motorcycles. There were ample portable toilets, as well as a semi-trailer of regular toilets and a semi-trailer of hot showers. I spent most of the time hanging out at the tent of the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners (VBMWMO). | ||
| Although I had not come to watch the races, the course wound around the infield where the vintage shows were held. I caught a glimpse of some early 1970's BMW airheads holding their own on the track. | ||
| I entered my R27 in the Ride'Em Don't Hide'Em vintage show, which required a 50-mile ride through the countryside with a pit stop for refreshments at a park. 1st Place in my European division was taken by the BMW R90S parked next to me at the right. | ||
| 2nd and 3rd Place were won by a red MV Agusta 850 SS and a green-and-red Moto Guzzi | ||
Against such flashy competition, the R27 was lucky to get Honorable Mention. |
